Unable to Connect New Laptop or Desktop to Comcast Internet

If your old computer accesses the Web with Comcast Internet just fine, but you are unable to connect a new laptop or desktop computer to Comcast Internet, use these steps to get up and running:
  1. Unplug the old computer from the data cable running to the Comcast modem.
  2. Then reset the Comcast modem by pressing the reset button for several seconds or, if it does not have a reset button, unplug it for for several seconds.  This is to remove its lock on the old computers MAC (hardware) address.
  3. Plug the Comcast modem into the new computer.
That's it -- you should now be able to access the Internet via Comcast with your new laptop or desktop computer.
