How to Turn Off Tracking in Word 2007

Sometimes you might receive a Microsoft Word document from someone where tracking is activated.  If you are not collaborating and don't need to track changes, here are the simple steps for turning it off in Word 2007:
  • Click on the the Review tab on the 2007 Office Ribbon
  • Go to the Tracking grouping
  • Click the Track Changes icon
I find that it's handy to have the track changes indicator activated on the status bar to easily determine if it's deactivated.  To add the track changes indicator, right-click on the status bar and click Track Changes. A plus of having the track changes indicator on the status bar is that, once activated, you can use it to toggle the track changes function on or off.  Simply click the status bar indicator to do so.
