How to Use Excel to Calculate Workdays Between Events

Excel lets you calculate business days (days not counting weekends) between two events. To do so, use the NETWORKDAYS function. For example,

=NETWORKDAYS(A1,A2)

You can account for holidays, too, by entering them in a range and including that in the formula:

=NETWORKDAYS(A1,A2,holidays)

In this case, "holidays" is the name of the range containing the dates of holidays to exclude.

Here is a little illustration of the function in action.  Also make sure to check out the rest of the Excel tips in the posts, which comes from my favorite Excel blog, Chandoo.org.
